Research Study: Gear Manufacturing Analysis

Description

This was a research study conducted for the mechanical engineering department at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to analyze and compare various methods of spur gear manufacturing using only on-campus resources. During the study a variety of production methods ranging from 3D printing to CNC water jetting, to manual mill involute cutting. The study reported results in a format that allowed senior design and other students to make informed decisions about using gears in their class projects and how to best go about making them.
